What is Laser Therapy and how does it work?
Laser therapy is a type of therapy for your pet cat or dog and has many beneficial uses such as alleviating chronic pain and accelerating healing and rehabilitation.
Laser energy increases local circulation and therefore draws oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.
Is Laser Therapy Painful?
No, it is a painless process. It is usually pleasant and comforting to the animal. With some devices, a warming sensation is felt at the treatment site.
When is Laser Therapy beneficial?
Pain management
Non-invasive therapy used instead of or alongside drug therapy for the treatment of chronic pain.
Wound healing
Laser therapy can significantly reduce healing time, while at the same time improving the quality of healed tissue – producing stronger, more normal tissues, with less tension and scar formation.
Rehabilitation
Bone and muscle injuries and orthopaedic surgeries often require additional rehabilitation solutions. Laser therapy provides a non-invasive therapy for quicker recovery.

How many treatment sessions are required?
This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For many acute conditions 1-2 treatments may be sufficient. Chronic conditions may require 5-8 (or more) treatments. Some conditions may require ongoing periodic care to control pain

A typical treatment can take 5-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
How long before the results are felt?
Your pet may feel improvement in their condition after the first treatment. Sometimes they will not feel improvement for a number of treatments. This does not mean that nothing is happening. Each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after 3-4 sessions.
